Oooohh, here's a super rare lone-year winch. It is a hybrid bellevue 5687 & warn 8274 (sold during Warn's take-over of Bellevue). Notice everything looks like the old Bellevue, except the brake system is the newer warn 8274 unit. Cool winch for historical value... Although, it's been upgraded with a newer motor and solenoid pack. Plus, the guy has it mounted face down on the trailer... wonder if it even has oil in it?

I picked it up yesterday, it has the Warn wireless control on it and it works. It does need new cable (only has abou 25-30 feet, it was on a trailer). I stopped in at 4wheelparts on my way home to get a new air compressor and was looking at that wireless control, $135 new.

that is the plan. Is there some where to check the serial # to see how it is? The control box has the newer style plug in like my M8000 and not the older 4 pin that you usually see.

The numbers are all on top of the aluminum housung. The serial#(6 digits) will tell you everything, just call Warn & they'll helpl ya... what is your date code? (Its the 3 character code)

So I e-mailed Warn and mine is from 1981. I had sent some pictures and asked about the control box. The response was that the wireless control was not compatible with the older 3 wire plug and only worked with the newer 5 pin plug . I am wondering if they took the control box off of a newer winch to use the wireless, so more research is in my future.

Your MFG Date Code indicates November 16, 1981/91/2001. Thats why you have to contact Warn (with the Serial #) to have them tell you the correct decade; in your case: 1981. THe wiring is simple. They may have even just re-wired the OEM solenoids to the 5-wire design. The wireless control would be a neat little doo-dad.

The impression I got from the e-mail was that the wireless just plugged in instead of the controller, mine is wired in under the cover. I will probably wire in cab controls and try to keep the wireless for doing things when I'm not in the drivers seat. I like the idea of a battery cutoff switch mounted by the winch for emergencies.

...and I am really happy with my HD battery cut-off... definitely a good idea. Mine was from HF for like $7.

If I was a fullsize guy, I'd be all over this... pretty cheap for a complete PTO setup!

Bad picture - I don't think it's Warn. The gear box is too squared-off and the motor is too small, even for a 6000lb winch. Hard to tell though...
